Eureka Chamber Mini Trade Show a Success!!

Approximately 70 members were engaged in the Mini Trade Show and General Membership meeting on May 5, 2004.  Tables around the room and in the lobby were loaded with resources and promotional materials of businesses in attendance.

The meeting kicked off with chamber committee updates and news of the city, followed by a presentation regarding school funding reform movement and a Rockwood School Districts financial update.  It ended with robust mini presentations by several local businesses.

Fair for All, the movement to reform state funding formulas for education, is endorsed by our Chamber coordinated by West St Louis County ChamberGlenn Koenen, spokesperson for the movement,  illustrated the inadequacy of state funding education and the disparity of the current funding formula.

David Glaser, Rockwood Schools, expressed his appreciation for the efforts and reviewed the new budget balancing policies that have been put into place by the schools. For more information regarding this movement, contact Glenn Koenen at 314-578-6352.

Fourteen mini-presentations were made by area businesses.  Several gift drawings included flower arrangements by Creative Gift Designs, a soft cooler from Rockwood Bank and a free lunch, Chatter Advertising and Web-site ad from the Chamber.

The following is an abbreviated review of some of the news shared regarding Chamber and City news. 

  • Volunteers and soda donations are needed for Eureka Days.
  • Booth space is going quickly.  Apply now. 
  • Tourism Committee has fliers for local businesses.  Tours to Eureka from surrounding communities are being created.
  • An old car night is being considered as a new event.  
  • A goal of $20,000 is set for the Golf tournament scheduled for September 20. The committee is looking for a corporate sponsor.
  • Eureka is attracting a new restaurant and another is expanding. 
  • Eureka is also being considered for a new movie theatre. 
  • The antique mall is expanding to a new location.
  • A video stream film of Eureka is in production.
