Press Release

For Immediate Distribution:

2003 Eureka Days Parade

The 7th annual Eureka Days parade will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2003 at 10:00 a.m.  This year's theme will be "Patriot Days."

So make sure that you have your calenders marked so you won’t miss what has become one of the largest attractions in Eureka every year.  Be sure to arrive early to get a great seat to see all the floats and entertainers as well as cheer on your friends and neighbors.  This is especially true if you have children as many of the floats distribute candy for their enjoyment along the parade route.

The parade is one of the many reasons that truly makes Eureka such a great place to live, work and play.  Nearly every civic organization and church is represented in the parade and the judging gets more difficult with each year.  There is expected to more than 80 entries this year and the size continues to grow.  So please join us for what should be yet another memorable Eureka Days Parade.

The parade will begin at Fourth Street and Central Avenue and then proceed south on Central Avenue through Old Town.  Once the parade meets Dreyer Avenue, it will turn west onto Dreyer and then south onto Bald Hill where it will conclude at the Eureka Days event grounds in Legion and Lions parks.  As a result, there will be ample space for everyone to view the parade.

For more parade information, or to pick up a parade application, please contact Melissa Nordmann at the Eureka Parks and Recreation Department at 938-6775 or Bob Berry at Pioneer Bank at 938-7776.  All parade entries must be received by August 8, 2003.  Parade floats will be judged on Creativity, Enthusiasm, and Incorporation of Theme.
