Eureka Days 2003- “Patriot Days” was an overwhelming success! The Eureka Chamber of Commerce and City of Eureka would like to thank the thousands of people that came out an enjoyed the event. They would also like to thank Mother Nature for supplying the most ideal weather imaginable for the event. This was also a contributing factor to the significant increase in attendance. It is currently speculated that attendance increased nearly three-fold to approximately 35,000 thousand guests over the course of the two day event.
There were many positive comments received regarding the event. Numerous people commented that they thought that the parade was the best ever and even more are asking for the return of not only Sh-Boom but also the SmashBand for 2004. Steps are already being taken to make this happen. In addition the fireworks were a site to see! They provided an exciting climax for the event on Saturday evening.
Eureka Days 2003 “Patriot Days” was also the first attempt at adding craft vendors to event. This had mixed results. The event committee will evaluate this aspect of the event and see how it can be improved for future events. There are also several items being considered for improvement in the future. More details will be provided in the upcoming months as the planning for Eureka Days 2004 is already underway!
A special thanks is extended to all of the contributing sponsors (see below) and the countless volunteers from the Eureka Park Board and their family, Parks and Recreation Camp staff, and Event Committee family and friends. Without their support, this event would not have been the success it was.
